DETROIT – As many as 20,000 people are coming to Detroit for a massive discussion of social change.

First of all, “Yay!” that as many as 20,000 people are coming to Detroit.

Second of all, do not dismiss the grassroots activists, idealists, revolutionaries and community organizers (even Tea Party members inquired about space) who will be in the city for the US Social Forum from Tuesday through Friday. Organizers say it will be the largest gathering of its kind to explore, among many things, improving public education and strengthening the working class.

Invitation pour le séminaire mondial de mouvements sociaux les 5-7 novembre (Dakar)

INVITATION POUR LE SEMINAIRE MONDIAL DE MOUVEMENTS SOCIAUX DU 5 AU 7 NOVEMBRE 2010 A DAKAR AU SENEGAL

Nous, mouvements sociaux africains et réseaux internationaux (voir liste ci-dessous), réunis à Dakar le 29 mai 2010, convoquons un séminaire mondial des mouvements sociaux dans la même ville du 5 au 7 novembre 2010 afin de préparer et de renforcer le Forum social mondial qui se tiendra dans la capitale sénégalaise début février 2011.

En effet, dans le cadre des préparatifs du Forum Social Mondial de 2011 à Dakar et suite aux recommandations du séminaire d’évaluation de l’Assemblée Mondiale des Mouvements Sociaux (AMS) tenue à Sao Paulo du 22 au 25 janvier 2010, une rencontre entre les mouvements sociaux sénégalais et les responsables africains de la Marche Mondiale des Femmes et du CADTM (Comité pour l’Annulation de la dette du tiers-monde) s’est tenue ce samedi 29 mai 2010 au centre socio – culturel Amadou Gaye (Bopp) à Dakar.

Nos dias 2, 3 e 4 de maio de 2010 ocorreu no Zócalo, Cidade do México, o Fórum Social Mundial Temático “Desde los pueblos, otras salidas a la crisis global son posibles”, onde se realizaram amplas jornadas de diálogos e debates propositivos entre movimentos, organizações, redes, representantes sociais, especialistas e personalidades nacionais e internacionais entorno  de alternativas populares frente ao modelo econômico neoliberal e seus impactos em todas as dimensões da ação humana.O Fórum proporcionou vínculos e articulações das lutas nacionais com as regionais e globais; tornou visível para o mundo as experiências e propostas que vem sendo trabalhadas no México e contribuiu com o debate para as lutas globais.

Make them pay for their crisis! – Another Europe is necessary

Call adopted by the European Preparatory Assembly (EPA) of the 6^th European social Forum (ESF) to be held in Istanbul 1-4 July 2010.

As time goes by, the crisis of neoliberal capitalism is being transformed to a great offensive against European societies: tremendous cuts in salaries and pensions, unprecedented job cuts, total destruction of public services. This is the worst time for the workers´ income and social rights since the end of World War II. Those who during the last twenty years benefit from the neoliberal policies and created the ongoing global crisis (businessmen, financial speculators and neoliberal goverments), are now trying to transfer the bill to those who have no responsibility: workers, unemployed, pensionaries, youth, women, immigrants. It is high time to stop them, this is the time to make them pay for their crisis.
