I feel like you should have addressed the booming world population that large agribusiness has enabled. Scaling back farming to a local level would have a drastic negative impact on the total production. “restoration of agriculture into the hands of the peasantry will allow us to ensure universal access to food” is just not the case. Economies of scale enable huge business to produce more food for a lower cost that it could be done otherwise. You can’t fix the world food supply problem without addressing the population, the two are intertwined. I’d say the exploding population and the strain it places on the world is the root of most of the problems presented above.

The promotion of local farming also assumes all people want to farm and have the resources necessary to do so, which again is not the case. Farm land in Sub Saharan Africa is just not as fertile as the American Mid West, for example.

Your assertion that Capitalism has failed is resoundingly incorrect. Capitalism is responsible for increasing the standard of living for more people than any other form of government/economy in history. It is, in fact, Communism that has failed again and again throughout history. Capitalism is not without its flaws, but it is far and away the most productive, beneficial form of economy we have. Those genetically altered seeds that sparked the Green Revolution were made possible by Capitalism. Money is the reason they were created, not compassion, and without the economic rewards Capitalism offers, no such seeds would have been developed. The same can be said for most modern medicine.

Face au chantage de l’empire financier :

Crise des « subprimes », crise bancaire, accélération de la destruction de l’agriculture, de l’industrie et des emplois. Puis aujourd’hui crise de l’euro, crise de la dette publique des États, destruction du service public, chantage sur les retraites. Sans oublier les divers plans injustes pour sauver les banques !

Nous devons nous organiser et nous mobiliser massivement pour demander à faire la lumière sur la crise financière en convoquant immédiatement une commission d’enquête parlementaire !

Parabéns pela forma didática e engajamento a todos que participaram da mesa Semináro Dez Anos ,em especial a Silke Helfrichna na apresentação do ” Forum Social Mundial: 10 anos depois: Elementos de uma nova agenda: Os bens comuns.”
Em relação a iniciativa de descentralizarem o evento ,foi negativo pela dificuldade em acompanhar os debates mais interessantes,falta de programação disponível em papel para consulta,palestrantes atrasados que comprometiam a dinámica na apresentação das temáticas.
Fica o agradecimento a organização que se empenhou em superar todas as dificuldades apresentadas.

Participei dos outros Fóruns em Porto Alegre e este pecou muito na organização, nem parecia o mesmo evento! Não havia nem mesmo uma programação disponível em papel para consulta!
A descentralidade não foi uma boa ideia, pois dificultou a participação em eventos importantes. Quando tinhamos vários eventos em Porto Alegre já era dificil de acompanhar, imagina em várias cidades!
Pensando especificamente no maior público, a juventude estudantil, não há recursos financeiros para acompanhar atividades em diferentes cidades.
Algumas cidades mais distantes, como Sapiranga, tiveram um evento muito organizado e com atividades de boa qualidade, mas estavam com pouco público, por exemplo.
